Our Gluten Free Haggis gets the Michelin seal of approval

    Posted by Team Macsween

We were proud to kickstart 2017 by launching our Coeliac UK certified Gluten Free Haggis. Made using the same high quality ingredients and traditional family recipe of oats, lamb and beef, our Gluten Free Haggis is packed with the same flavour and richness as the original, but uses gluten free oats as an alternative.

One in 100 people in the UK has coeliac disease, an autoimmune disease caused by a reaction to gluten, with an estimated half a million people currently undiagnosed. Sarah Sleet, chief executive of Coeliac UK, the national charity for people with coeliac disease, said: “Being able to purchase new gluten free products is a top priority for people with coeliac disease, who must follow a strict gluten free diet for life. It’s fantastic that an established brand such as Macsween is now able to offer their core product to people with coeliac disease, with their new Gluten Free Haggis certified gluten free by Coeliac UK, enabling them to use the Crossed Grain symbol on packaging.”

We’ve been providing the nation with Scotland’s national dish for over 60 years and pride ourselves on delivering the very best haggis there is. Whilst developing this new product, it was incredibly important to us that our consumers could enjoy a gluten free version without compromising on taste and we’re proud to say we’ve done that. We’re confident haggis fans across the country will love it.

Available in over 500 stores UK wide, we also got the seal of approval from Michelin star chef Tom Kitchin who will be serving our Gluten Free Haggis at his gastro pub The Scran & Scallie this Burns Night. Tom said: “For those who have to avoid gluten - or for those who have friends and family that do - finding good quality, tasty gluten free products can sometimes be a challenge. Macsween has managed to pack their Gluten Free Haggis full of flavour and give those who need it, a very good gluten free alternative.”
