    Haggis Happenings

    Posted by Team Macsween

Christmas and Hogmanay may be over, but don’t let this get you down. January is the month of haggis and Robert Burns (woohoo!) so there is still plenty to celebrate, great food to eat and fun to be had. We have an array of events in Edinburgh and London, from experiential sampling to rare partnerships with some of the best foodie goodies this country has to offer.

Beer Flavoured Burns Night with Innis & Gunn, Edinburgh

    22nd January

Breaded Haggis starter with a garnish sits next to an open botttle of Innis and Gunn beer and a Innis and Gunn branded glass, half full of beer.

This is a Burns Night celebration with a twist … A three course celebration hosted by James Macsween, complimented with amazing Innis & Gunn (@innisandgunn) oak-aged beers. Our epic haggis will be piped in and addressed with gusto - just as you would expect from one of true Macsween blood! The evening will be held at Innis and Gunn HQ and "brand home", a beautiful townhouse event space in Edinburgh's West End. These tickets are going fast so get yours now.

Haggis Celebration with Wholefoods Kensington, London

    22nd and 23rd January

Rows of haggis canapes, or tasters on a black background.

To celebrate the launch of Macsween haggis into Wholefoods (@wholefoods), join us for two days of haggis sampling, entertainment, and a guest appearance from our mascot Hamish. We're very proud to be working with Wholefoods who share our high standards for great food with no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives. If you've never had the Wholefoods experience, we highly recommend you come down and see what they have to offer.

    All Hail The Haggis, London

John Lewis Foodhall, Oxford Street, 24th January
Selfridges Foodhall, Oxford Street, 25th January

A large haggis is presented in a contemporary style, on a bed of heather on a slate tray, served by a woman in modern tweed clothing in neutral colours.

Simply sampling? Nope! We'll be bringing a whole new, very special atmosphere to Oxford Street's Foodhalls for Burns weekend. Don your kilt or sash and get in the mood for Burns night with sampling, recipe inspiration and bagpiping. Feel free to find John Lewis (@JLOxfStFoodhall) and Selfridges (@SelfridgesFood) on Twitter and let them know you're coming in 140 characters of Scots!

The Twisted Scot Dinner with Café Spice, London

    26th January

On a granite surface, a brightly patterned bowl of spiced potatoes sits upon a white Chef Todiwala cookery book with gold text.

Chef Cyrus Todiwala of Cafe Spice Namaste (@CafeSpiceNamast) will create a menu of traditional Scottish favourites with a Todiwala twist using inspirational Indian flavours. Of course, the wonderfully tweaked and twisted Scottish culinary delights will be accompanied by a wee dram or two, and some surprise entertainment is in store.

Since arriving to the UK from India in 1991, Chef Todiwala has been awarded several honorary doctorates, an MBE and an OBE for services to the hospitality industry, and has cooked for the queen (with rare breed Orkney lamb fed on seaweed!). Expect to taste haggis as you may never have before. Part of the proceeds will go to ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity.
