We are delighted to announce that last night (Wednesday 12th June) we were named Scotland's Family Business of the Year 2013. The prestigious award recognises the successful contribution that family businesses have made to the UK economy.

As a third generation family company we are delighted and honoured to be recognised by this award, especially as we celebrate our 60th anniversary this year. As a family company we aim to harness the best elements of our core DNA and nurture them to best effect, therefore winning such a prestigious award is very affirming for us and we will continue to strive for excellence.

The judges praised us for embracing our family values of the past and merging them with innovation. James and Jo were particularly praised for their proactive and progressive approach to running a family business.

This award comes just a couple of weeks after we were awarded Best Food Producer at the Midlothian Food and Drink Awards.

The inaugural awards were launched by Family Business United, an online magazine and resource centre aimed at family businesses and their professional advisers.
