Cooking

Macsween’s vegetarian haggis is already cooked and simply requires heating until it is piping hot.  If your vegetarian haggis is frozen, defrost it thoroughly before cooking.  The following is a guide only.

Oven Method
Remove the outer printed packaging.  Wrap the vegetarian haggis in foil, place in an ovenproof dish with about 2cm of water, and heat at 180°C (gas mark 4) for the recommended time (see table below).  Remove the casing before serving.

Pan Method
Remove the vegetarian haggis from the outer printed packaging and wrap it tightly in foil.  Place your vegetarian haggis in a pan, cover with water, and gently simmer for the recommended time (see table below), until it is piping hot.  Remove the casing before serving.

Please note: this method is only suitable for smaller haggis products, as a very large pan would be required for any products larger than the Serves 3-4!

Microwave Method (800W Category D)
Remove the outer printed packaging, the inner casing and the clips.  Cut the vegetarian haggis into pieces and place in a microwaveable dish.  Cover and heat on ‘medium’ power for the recommended time (see table below), stirring once during cooking and once before serving.  Please note: microwave ovens do vary; adjust times accordingly.
