Haggis is in fashion for summer, and leading haggis producers, Macsween of Edinburgh, are celebrating with a new look.
Director, Jo Macsween, said, “this year has been a good year for us, and is expected to stay very busy. We’ve seen haggis shed its image of being a traditionally winter dish eaten predominantly in Scotland and watched it grow in popularity with chefs, caterers, and the general public.”“For 2009, we’ve brought in new packaging, opting for a younger, more modern look, without losing the all-important Scottish-ness of our product,” she said.
Despite the economic doom-and-gloom, the third generation family business has secured a year-round listing with Morrisons, UK-wide, and achieved record-breaking sales for the first quarter. Macsween has also had significant success with sales in England, with over 50% of total sales originating from south of the Scottish border.
“There are plans to extend our factory premises to better manage increasing demand, too,” said Jo.
The new packaging will hit wholesalers and distributors in May 2009. For more information, please contact Macsween of Edinburgh on 0131 440 2555.
